Overview

Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT)

An ELT is a small device that can be activated automatically or manually in a life-threatening situation. An ELT aids in search and rescue operations to locate aircraft in distress.

Carrying an ELT can safe your life and must be carried on board at all times. The use of an ELT is governed by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (beacons.amsa.gov.au). Transmitters must be registered with AMSA.
